It means that a device that splits a fiber optic cable into a single fiber. Fiber optic patch panel is a compact fiber optic cable management products used in FTTx (including FTTH, FTTB, etc.) cabling system. In some cases, fiber optic patch panel can be considered as small fiber optic adapter panel or a optical distribution frame.

A typical fiber optic patch panel has 12 or 24 ports,36 ports, 48 ports, 96ports and 144 ports, even more. The fiber distribution panel is made of cold-rolled steel and the case is electrostatically sprayed. It usually terminated with SC, LC FC or ST adapter.
